My name is Allyn León. I have been teaching math full time at Imperial Valley College since January 2005. Previously, I taught mathematics full time at Arizona Western College and Imperial High School, and have held jobs as a research specialist, tutor, and library circulation assistant. I have also taught courses in mathematics and mathematics education for San Diego State University - Imperial Valley Campus and for the University of Phoenix - Yuma Campus. I still teach a class every now and then for Arizona Western College.
I was born and raised in the Imperial Valley. After graduating from Holtville High School, I attended Imperial Valley College for two years, and then transferred to the University of California at San Diego, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics. In 2005 I completed a Master of Science degree in Mathematics through Texas A&M University. I am currently taking classes offered by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln leading toward a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Studies.
I usually teach 2-3 sections of statistics (Math 119) every semester. Other classes I have taught at IVC include math study skills (Math 40), basic math (Math 70), beginning algebra (Math 80), intermediate algebra (Math 90), college algebra (Math 150), finite math (Math 122), calculus with applications (Math 170), and discrete math (Math 240).
Aside from teaching and taking classes, I also like to read, cook, sing, and play guitar. What I enjoy most of all is spending time with my wife and twin girls.
